Project “Equal Access to Activities of Sports Clubs and Organizations for All”

The project “Equal Access to Activities of Sports Clubs and Organizations for All” is being implemented within the “Rights and Values” Initiative and is funded by the European Union and the “Workshop for Civic Initiatives” Foundation (WCIF).

This new project under the “Rights and Values” program aims to address the serious issue of lack of equality, diversity, and inclusion in sports in Bulgaria. Within the project, a series of initiatives and events will be organized to change current attitudes and practices in sports organizations, as well as to establish new standards and policies that ensure equal access to sports activities for all participants.

The project includes several workshops with sports clubs and coaches, scheduled to take place from May 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025. These workshops will focus on discussing and establishing policies and practices to combat violence and discrimination in sports organizations. Representatives from sports clubs and academies in Vidin and the surrounding region are expected to participate.

Additionally, two meetings will be held with the governing bodies of sports organizations to develop individual policies promoting equality and diversity. The project also includes a round table with representatives of institutions and stakeholders to discuss the outcomes of the workshops and the effectiveness of the implemented measures.

The project will culminate in a large-scale sports event in Vidin, aimed at promoting the message of equality and diversity in sports in an engaging and entertaining way to reach a broad audience.

The “Bokaya” Association believes that these activities will lead to significant changes in Bulgaria’s sports environment, ensuring equal access and fair treatment for all athletes, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

The initiative “Equal Access to Activities of Sports Clubs and Organizations for All” is being implemented as part of the “Rights and Values” project and is funded by the European Union and the “Workshop for Civic Initiatives” Foundation.
